CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Houston Baseball wasn't able to overcome a few early runs by Cincinnati, falling in the series finale, 4-2, on Saturday in American Athletic Conference action at Marge Schott Stadium.

Houston falls to 17-11 on the year and 4-2 in American Athletic Conference play, while Cincinnati improves to 12-13 and 3-3 in league action.

HOUSTON HITS

Jared Triolo has reached base in 27 straight games and has a hit in 13 straight.
Lael Lockhart Jr. has reached base in 14 straight games.
Connor Hollis doubled twice for his 9th and 10th two-bagger of the year.

Connor Hollis led the Houston offense with two doubles and an RBI, while Lael Lockhart doubled and drove in an RBI. Hollis and Tucker Redden each scored a run.

Houston starter Ryan Randel lasted just 3.1 innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits, two walks with four strikeouts. He falls to 2-3 on the year with the loss.

Senior Joey Pulido entered the game in the fourth and induced a groundout and strikeout to strand a runner and keep Cincinnati off the board.
Freshman Clay Aguilar worked 2.0 flawless innings out of the bullpen, allowing just one hit with three strikeouts.

Sophomore Fred Villarreal returned to the bump after missing an extended amount of time due to injury, last appearing the Opening Weekend series vs. Holy Cross. He tossed 2.0 shutout frames, allowing just one hit with one strikeout.

KEY INNINGS
2nd | Cincinnati jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a lead off solo home run.

3rd | The Bearcats extended their lead to 2-0 with another run in the third after a lead off double came around to score on a sac fly.

4th | Cincinnati plated a pair of runs in the fourth to make it 4-0 on a solo home run and a walk and an error.

8th | Houston found its way on the scoreboard in the eighth with two runs after a one-out walk from Tucker Redden and a two-out RBI-double by Connor Hollis gave way to an RBI-double by Lael Lockhart Jr., scoring Hollis to make it 4-2.

ON DECK
The Cougars will travel to Texas A&M to face the Aggies in Tuesday showdown at 6:30 p.m. in College Station, Texas.

Houston will return home to host USF in a three-game series next weekend at Schroeder Park, beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m.
