Hollis Up for Senior CLASS Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- For an outstanding career in baseball, academics and the community, Houston Baseball senior infielder Connor Hollis was recognized as one of 30 NCAA collegiate baseball candidates for the Senior CLASS Award.
The national honor recognizes student-athletes with notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
ABOUT Connor Hollis
CLASSROOM
- Connor Hollis has continued to excel in the classroom during his time at Houston.
- American Conference All-Academic Team (2014 -- present)
- Dean's List (Spring 2015, Fall 2016, Spring 2017 & Fall 2017)
- Athletic Director's Honor Roll (2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17 & 2017-18)
- Graduated with a degree in finance; on track to pursue a graduate degree at UH
CHARACTER
Hollis has represented the University of Houston over the last four years with a standard of excellence. He has continued to give back to his community of Houston and strives to make a difference as a student-athlete by creating an environment in the locker room for his team that is all about a cohesive bond.

Hollis has taken part in numerous community service events during his time at Houston, including the following events, organizations and projects:

- Hope for Soap volunteer as member of SAAC (2014-present)
- Food Bank Drive volunteer as member of SAAC (2014-present)
- Miracle League Buddy (2013-present)
- Fisher House Volunteer (cooked meals for Military Veterans) (2016, 2017)
COMPETITION
Hollis has acquired a long list of recognition in his time as a Cougar.

- 2015 Preseason All-Conference selection
- 2014 Third-team All-Conference
- .288 career average with 165 hits, 28 doubles and 61 RBI.
- Has appeared in 173 career games, making 169 starts
- Ranks second all-time with 34 career hit-by-pitches
- Ranks fifth all-time in career assists with 466
- Leads Houston with 18 runs in 2018 and is hitting .286 through 20 games
- Helped Houston to a regular-season and conference tournament championship title in 2017
- Has played as the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Houston Regional twice.
- Helped Houston as a true freshman in 2014 to a 48-win season, an American Conference tournament title, Regional Championship and appearance in an NCAA Super Regional for the first time since 2003.
VOTING SYSTEM
The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four C's of community, classroom, character and competition. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2018 College World Series® in June.
