Joe Davis rides an 11-game hit streak after another two-hit night to lead the Cougars offensively. He paced the team with two RBI and a run, while Lael Lockhart Jr. drove in a pair of RBI on a walk and sac fly, while also scoring a run.
Jared Triolo continued his hot-hitting with a two-hit game, while Cooper Coldiron drove in his team-leading 19th RBI to join Landon Etzel and Ron Brown in the RBI column.

Freshman Clay Aguilar made his first career start on Wednesday and tossed 4.1 innings allowing two runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts. He made just his third career appearance.
Senior Kyle Ott took over in the fifth for Aguilar and went 1.2 shutout innings without allowing a hit with two strikeouts for the win. He moved to 2-0 with the victory in relief.
Relievers Hunter Edwards, Griffin Hattingh, Nolan Bond and Lael Lockhart Jr. all combined to toss 3.0 innings without allowing a run and only one hit, one walk with four strikeouts.
KEY INNINGS
1st | Houston took an early lead in the first inning when Grayson Padgett opened the game with a walk and came around to score on a bases loaded walk by Lael Lockhart Jr.
2nd | Prairie View A&M tied the game in the top of the second inning on back-to-back wild pitches for a 1-1 score.
The Cougars quickly responded to the Panthers' run with a seven-run second inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Joe Davis, sacrifice flies from Lockhart and Cooper Coldiron and a bases loaded walk by Landon Etzel. Houston took advantage of two PVAMU errors to make it 8-1 through two frames.
4th | A lead off single and RBI-double led to another Panther run in the fourth, but Kyle Ott managed to strand a runner at third to keep it to just one run.
6th | Houston added another run in the sixth (9-2) on a sacrifice fly by Ron Brown, scoring Jared Triolo after he singled, stole second and moved to third on back-to-back hit-by-pitches.
ON DECK
Houston will begin its quest to defend its American Athletic Conference title from 2017 when it opens conference play vs. Memphis this weekend. The series is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and will wrap at 1 p.m. Sunday.
