CYPRESS, Texas â€" University of Houston junior Tatiana Pineda posted a 36-hole total of 148 to stand in third place following the first day of the HBU Husky Invitational on Monday evening at BlackHorse Golf Club.
Pineda was one of four Cougars competing as individuals at the tournament and joined junior Maddy Rayner and senior Kelli Rollo among the Top-20 leaders after the first two rounds.
Pineda, a native of Bogota, Colombia, posted 74s in each round, to lead the Cougars. She drained three birdies in her morning round, including two on her final four holes.
In the afternoon session, Pineda was a steady performer with her lone birdie coming on the par-4 12th hole.
Rayner joined Pineda among the Top-10 leaders after shooting a 75 in the morning round â€" thanks to three birdies â€" and following that with a 76 for a total of 151 to tie for fifth.
Rollo stood in a tie for 13th at 154. The Mont Belvieu, Texas, native drained three birdies in a four-hole stretch in the morning round and added two more birdies in the afternoon session.
Freshman Yukie Sasaki was tied for 31st at 159.
Sam Houston State's Hannah Alberto held the first-day at lead at 141, while Houston Baptist's Sara Zrnikova stood in second at 144. Following Pineda, Olivereen Le Roux was in fourth at 149 with Rayner and two golfers tied for fifth at 151.
Houston Baptist and Lamar were tied for the team lead at 605. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi stood in third at 618 with UIW in fourth at 622.

FINAL ROUND on TUESDAY
Tuesday's Final Round begins at 7:30 a.m., with a shotgun start. Pineda will start her round off No. 18 with Rayner (No. 17), Sasaki (No. 14) and Rayner (No. 13) following.
UP NEXT
Following the HBU Husky Invitational, the Cougars will compete at the LSU Tiger Classic on March 23-25 at University Club in Baton Rouge, La.
From there, the team will close out the regular season when it tees off at the Bruzzy Challenge on April 2-3 at Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas.
