
Houston Falls to South Florida 4-2

TAMPA â€" The Houston Cougar Women's Tennis team lost just its second match of the spring season against South Florida 4-2, on Friday, in Tampa, Fla. South Florida are the reining American Athletic Conference Champions.
Tsveta Dimitrova and Ana Glumac fell at the #1 spot 6-1 to Nicole Dzenga and Vanja Klaric. This was their first loss on the season when playing together.
South Florida clinched the doubles point as Juliana Cardoso and Jessica Chaves defeated Lauren Alter and Alison Mills 6-3. This loss put Alter and Mills at 10-3 on the season in doubles when paired.
Sveva Mazzari and Constandena Nicolaou's match went unfinished and was tied at 4-4 at the time against Alexandria Mjos and Ana Roman.
The Bulls rode their momentum with Vanja Klaric beating Mills 6-0, 6-1. With the loss, Mills falls to 6-7 in singles play this spring season.
Alter gave the Cougars their first match win of the day with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Ana Roman. This cut the Bulls lead to 2-1.
Dimitrova rode Alter's momentum and provided a win of her own, with a score of 6-3, 6-4 over Jessica Chaves. Dimitrova improves to 14-2 on the season in singles. This victory tied the match at 2-2.
Despite the Cougars tying the match at 2-2, the Bulls pulled away, winning two straight singles matches.
Next, Glumac lost a tough match to Juliana Cardoso 6-2, 7-5. Cardoso won both her singles and doubles match today, with the singles match giving the Bulls the lead back at 3-2.
South Florida clinched the match 4-2 when Nicole Dzenga defeated Constandena Nicolaou 6-1, 7-5. This was only Nicolaou's second loss of the season as she moved to 11-2.
With the loss, Houston now holds a 15-2 overall record in spring play.

The Cougars return home to host Louisiana Tech on Saturday, March 24. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
