Houston Hosts Louisiana and UTRGV

HOUSTON â€" The Houston Cougar Women's Tennis team returns home to play Louisiana and UT Rio Grande Valley in a doubleheader on Monday. First serve against Louisiana is set for 11 a.m. with the match against UTRGV starting at 3 p.m. The Cougars are undefeated when playing at the Barbara Wallace Winston facility this spring season.
Houston beat Abilene Christian and North Texas during a road trip a week ago. The Cougars swept the match against Abilene Christian 4-0. They cruised in doubles but were tested in singles play. Tsveta Dimitrova won her match 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) in a match that went down to the wire. Sveva Mazzari remained undefeated with her singles win to improve her spring record to 12-0.
The following day the Cougars took on North Texas in Denton, Texas. Houston lost in doubles for the first time all season but bounced back with dominant singles play. The match was tied at 2-2 when Constandena Nicolaou and Ana Glumac won their matches to clinch the overall match for the Cougars.
ABOUT THE RAGIN' CAJUNS
Louisiana is 10-5 this spring season and are coming into Houston with a doubleheader sweep against Prairie View A&M. Seniors Elena Sava, Abby Johnson, and Kelly Drew headline their roster. The Ragin' Cajuns are 3-2 in road matches with losses to Texas A&M and McNeese State.
ABOUT THE VAQUEROS
UTRGV is 6-6 on the spring season thus far. The Vaqueros are coming off a loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday, 5-2. They are led by junior Dominique Ibarra, who is 8-2 in singles play this season. In doubles play, the tandem of senior Dominique Esparza and junior Doris Aleksovska boast a 5-0 record.
UP NEXT FOR HOUSTON
The Cougars travel to Florida to face North Florida and South Florida. First serve is set for 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 15 against North Florida and 11 a.m. on Friday, March 16 against South Florida.
