Cornerback is fourth Houston player in five years to earn the honor
HOUSTON – Houston senior cornerback Isaiah Johnson has been selected to play in the 2019 Senior Bowl on Jan. 26 in the Mobile, Ala. The game will kick off at 1:30 p.m. CT and air on the NFL Network.
Johnson is the fourth member of the Houston program in the last five years to earn a selection to the Senior Bowl following in the footsteps of Tyus Bowser (2017), William Jackson III (2016) and Joey Mbu (2015).

The Bryan, Texas, native leads Houston with seven pass breakups on the year, his second season playing cornerback after beginning his career at receiver. Johnson leads the Houston cornerbacks with 66 tackles, two of which have resulted in a loss, while picking off two passes and recording one quarterback hurry.
He has started 10 of 11 games he participated in this season, missing one game due to an injury. In his first season on defense, Johnson saw action in 12 games with five starts in 2017, finishing the year with 45 tackles, nine pass breakups and two interceptions.
Prior to switching to the defensive side of the ball, Johnson recorded 21 receptions for 208 yards in two seasons of action at receiver.
