Houston Announces Clear Bag Policy for Fertitta Center
10/31/2018 2:14:00 PM | Men's Basketball
Walk-through metal detectors also to be used at all facility entrances

HOUSTON – As the University of Houston Men's and Women's Basketball programs prepare to begin the 2018-19 season and open the Fertitta Center, fans should note the clear-bag policy which will be in effect inside the Cougars' new $60-million home.
Enacted by numerous NCAA institutions and professional sports organizations around the world, the policy limits the size and type of bags, which are allowed into all events inside the Fertitta Center. Items such as backpacks, purses and diaper bags are not permitted, and fans are strongly encouraged to not bring any bags to the facility.
The following items will be allowed inside Fertitta Center events:
• Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches
• 1-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc or similar)
• A small clutch purse no larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches, with or without a handle or strap (These small clutches remain subject to search)
Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at the doors by arena personnel.
METAL DETECTORS
In addition to the clear-bag policy, fans should note that walk-through magnetometers will be installed at all entry points of the Fertitta Center.
Guests will be asked to remove all objects from their pockets and place them on a table prior to walking through the metal detector. However, guests will NOT need to remove their shoes, belts, watches or jewelry.
To expedite the process, fans are asked to bring only those items which they will absolutely need for the event.

ABOUT THE FERTITTA CENTER
With a capacity of 7,100, the Fertitta Center will feature a premium club and courtside club as well as a reconfigured bowl with mid-court seating closer to game action. The facility also includes floor-level seating opposite the team benches for UH students.
The University will transform an area adjacent to the Fertitta Center into Hofheinz Pavilion, where fans will be greeted by a bronze statue of former Harris Country Judge Roy Hofheinz.
The renovation was made possible through a generous $20-million donation from University of Houston System Board of Regents Chairman Tillman J. Fertitta and his family in 2016.
