CARROLLTON, Texas – The University of Houston Men's Golf program stood in 10th place at +33 midway through the Second Round of the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate before play was suspended on Monday evening at Maridoe Golf Club.
The Cougars posted a team score of 303 on the 7,008-yard, par-70 course in the morning session and was at +10 through 14 holes in the afternoon round before play was halted.
Oklahoma State held the first-day lead at -12. Arkansas stood in second at +4 with NC State (+6), North Carolina (+12) and SMU (+15) rounding out the top-five teams.
Sophomore Alexander Frances was tied for 25th at +5 to lead the Cougars, while junior Logan Young was tied for 37th at +8. Junior and All-American Athletic Conference performer Zach Tracy was tied for 48th at +10.
Making his Houston debut, junior Alex Isakson was tied for 53rd at +11 with sophomore Andrew Gibson in 70th at +16.
Competing as individuals, senior Matt Williams was tied for 34th at +7, while freshman Braxton Watkins – making his collegiate debut – was tied for 60th at +13. Junior George Gardner was tied for 73rd at +18.
Oklahoma State's Matthew Wolff held the first-day lead at -6 to stand one stroke ahead of NC State's Stephen Franken. OSU's Viktor Hovland was in third at -3 with William Buhl (Arkansas) and Hayden Wood (OSU) tied for fourth at -2.
The tournament was originally scheduled to be played at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas, but recent torrential rains and flooding forced the event to be moved.
This will be the second straight tournament in which the Cougars will compete at Maridoe Golf Club. Houston finished 11th at the Maridoe Intercollegiate on Oct. 6-8.

FINAL-ROUND PAIRINGS
Teams will resume the Second Round at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday and continue play with the same pairings for the Final Round. Unlike most collegiate events, the Cougars will compete together in a group, beginning of No. 16 Tuesday.
In most collegiate tournaments, student-athletes compete in groups with student-athletes from other schools.
