Doggett’s Top 25 Finish Propels Houston at Valspar Collegiate

Houston posts third-consecutive under-par round, beats five ranked teams
PALM CITY, Fla. – Houston senior men's golfer Grant Doggett posted a 2-under 69 final round at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday, helping the Cougars beat five ranked teams and tie for ninth at the Floridian National Golf Club.
Doggett led the Cougars for the third straight round and sunk five birdies in the final round.
Senior Hudson Weibel and junior Hsuan-Yi Chen both finished tied for 34th in the field with 3-under scorecards across the three rounds. Weibel shot 1-under 70 over the 7,088-yard course with five birdies on Tuesday. Chen's even-par 71 included seven birdies, the team leader on Tuesday.
As a team, Houston shot 2-under par for the day, with junior Chi Chun Chen posting a 1-over 72 with four birdies. The Cougars beat #8 Arizona State, #13 Pepperdine, #24 USC and #29 Wake Forest and tied with #23 Duke.
