HOUSTON â€" After leading the Cougars with a career-best finish, University of Houston junior Allie Andersen was recognized as the American Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.
Posting three straight rounds of par or lower at the Clemson Invitational last weekend, Andersen tied for fifth with a score of 5-under 211 on the 6,260-yard course at The Reserve at Lake Keowee.
She tied her career-low score with a 69 in the First Round and went on to tie her personal-low 36-hole total while setting a personal record for a 54-hole mark. She also equaled her best finish at a collegiate tournament.
Andersen, who is a The Woodlands, Texas, native and joined the Cougars after transferring from Colorado State, enjoyed her third top-20 finish of the season. She ranks third among the Cougars with a 74.32 scoring average but stands second with 10 rounds of par or better.
Wednesday's honor was the first weekly award of her collegiate career.

Andersen and the Cougars enter the postseason when they compete at the American Athletic Conference Championships on The Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Golf & Spa Resort on April 16-18.
