Cougars Host Lamar at Galleria Tennis Club

HOUSTON â€" The Houston Cougar Women's Tennis team returns to town to begin its final 4-match homestand of the regular season when it hosts Lamar on Sunday at the Galleria Tennis & Athletic Club. First serve against the Cardinals is scheduled for 4:45 p.m.
ABOUT THE COUGARS
Houston enters play with an 8-10 record after dropping a pair of matches at Utah and BYU a week ago.
The Cougars have been led in singles this season by junior Sveva Mazzari, who holds a 9-5 record, while freshman Tsveta Dimitrova ranks second on the team in wins with an 8-2 mark. Dimitrova enters the weekend on a 4-match winning streak.
Mazzari has teamed with freshman Lauren Alter on the doubles court this season to lead the Cougars with seven wins, while Dimitrova has partnered with both freshman Cristina Rovira and junior Ana Glumac to pick up three wins apiece.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Lamar enters weekend play with a 13-4 record and is currently riding a 7-match winning streak dating back to March 15. The Cardinals will host Sam Houston State on Saturday before visiting Houston.
Lamar has been a strong team in singles this season, with four players who have collected 10 or more wins. Katya Lapayeva leads the squad with a 14-2 record during the spring, while Sanja Jolic and Jasmin Buchta are each 12-4, respectfully.
Buchta has teamed with Hanna Elfving to compile a 13-4 record at the No. 3 doubles position. Payeva and Anna Spengler sit second on the team with a 9-5 mark in pairs competition.
UP NEXT FOR HOUSTON
The Cougars host a pair of American Athletic Conference opponents when they welcome SMU and USF to town. First serve against the Mustangs is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, April 8, at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility, while the Bulls will come to campus for a 1 p.m., match on Sunday, April 9.

The Cougars are proud to introduce the Center Court Club, a restricted-giving program that directly impacts the needs of the University of Houston Tennis program. Gifts to the Center Court Club provide financial support directly to the University of Houston Tennis program for needs beyond the program's operating budget. Revenue generated from the Center Court Club is used at the discretion of the head coach for program enhancements. Membership in the Center Court Club is annual and requires a minimum $100 gift.

For a minimum gift of $100, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball.
ACE
For a minimum gift of $500, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation and a stadium blanket.
US OPEN
For a minimum gift of $1,000, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation, a stadium blanket, fleece jacket and a lesson from the coach.
GRAND SLAM
For a minimum gift of $2,500, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation, a stadium blanket, fleece jacket, a lesson from the coach and a group lesson from the coaching staff.
