Cougars Drop Pitcher's Duel to McNeese

HOUSTON -- Sophomore Savannah Heebner recorded a career-high nine strikeouts, but the University of Houston Softball team ultimately fell 1-0 in a pitcher's duel with McNeese on Wednesday night at Cougar Softball Stadium.
With the decision, the Cougars fall to 16-14 overall, while the Cowgirls improve to 23-11.
Heebner (7-5) logged her team-leading sixth complete game in the circle, scattering seven hits, two walks and one run. Her nine strikeouts are the most for the Cougars since Bailey Watts (2010-13) fanned 10 against UAB on May 4, 2013.
Teammates Sarah Barker and Shelby Miller each recorded singles to highlight the Houston offense.

The Cowgirls pushed across one run in the opening frame on a walk, stolen base and single up the middle.
