Cougars Head East for Tulane, LSU

NEW ORLEANS â€" The Houston Cougar Women's Tennis team is on the road for a pair of weekend matches in the state of Louisiana. The Cougars will meet Tulane on Friday at 1 p.m., in New Orleans, before heading to Baton Rouge to meet LSU on Sunday at 11 a.m.
ABOUT THE COUGARS
Houston enters play with a 4-2 record this spring after sweeping its weekend matches last week. Against UTEP, the Cougars' match went down to the wire with a 4-3 victory over the Miners, before moving on to sweep New Mexico State 4-0 on Sunday.
Junior Sveva Mazzari leads the Cougars with four wins through the first six matches. Mazzari won three straight matches from Jan. 21-Feb. 4, while also picking up a victory over Vanessa Valdez of New Mexico State. Freshmen Lauren Alter, Constandena Nicolaou and Cristina Rovira each have three singles victories this season.
Rovira has teamed with freshman Tsveta Dimitrova to lead the Cougars with a 3-1 record on the doubles court. The duo has played a key role in Houston's 8-5 overall record in doubles play this season.
SCOUTING THE GREEN WAVE
Tulane enters weekend play with an 8-2 overall record after splitting its last pair of weekend matches. On Feb. 10, the Green Wave defeated Winthrop 4-3, before falling to Furman 4-3 two days later. Tulane will also welcome USF to New Orleans, on Sunday.
Christina Sisti and Naz Karagoz have paced the Green Wave with seven wins apiece this season. Sisti enters with a 7-1 record and a 3-match winning streak, while Karagoz dropped each of her matches against Winthrop and Furman to sit at 7-3. Elena Muller and Sade Atkinson each have six wins.
As a team, Tulane holds an 18-7 overall record in doubles play led by Karagoz and Muller who sit at 5-3. Sisti has combined with both Ivone Alvaro and Kyla Klier to produce 4-0 records with each.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
LSU enters weekend play with a 5-1 overall record and will meet USF on Friday, before welcoming Houston to the LSU Tennis Complex on Sunday. The Tigers swept last weekend's contests without dropping a match, beating Memphis 5-0 before defeating North Florida 4-0.
Ryann Foster paces LSU with a 6-0 record in singles play, while Jade Lewis sits second on the team at 5-0 and Jessica Golovin is 5-1. Foster has won an impressive nine consecutive matches dating back to fall play.
LSU has also been solid on the doubles court, sporting an 11-2 overall record entering the weekend. Lewis and Becca Weissmann are perfect from the No. 2 slot with a 4-0 record, while Golovin and Skylar Holloway are 3-0.

The Cougars are proud to introduce the Center Court Club, a restricted-giving program that directly impacts the needs of the University of Houston Tennis program. Gifts to the Center Court Club provide financial support directly to the University of Houston Tennis program for needs beyond the program's operating budget. Revenue generated from the Center Court Club is used at the discretion of the head coach for program enhancements. Membership in the Center Court Club is annual and requires a minimum $100 gift.

For a minimum gift of $100, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball.
ACE
For a minimum gift of $500, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation and a stadium blanket.
US OPEN
For a minimum gift of $1,000, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation, a stadium blanket, fleece jacket and a lesson from the coach.
GRAND SLAM
For a minimum gift of $2,500, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation, a stadium blanket, fleece jacket, a lesson from the coach and a group lesson from the coaching staff.
