LAHAINA, MAUI, Hawai'i â€" University of Houston Men's Golf stars Michael Perras and George Gardner fired sub-par rounds for the second straight day to finish the Second Round of the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic in a tie for 10th on Saturday evening.
A day after tying his career low, Gardner enjoyed a 69 in Saturday's play on the 6,700-yard, par-71 Royal Ka'anapali Course. The Southlake, Texas, native started his day off Nov. 4 and wasted little time moving below par with a birdie on the par-5 fourth hole.
Gardner enjoyed back-to-back birdies on Nos. 11-12 and posted par on nine of his final 10 holes to move into a tie for 10th at 5-under 137.
Perras was a steady force in the Houston lineup throughout the day. Like Gardner, he sank a birdie on the sixth hole and overcame a bogey on No. 9 to make birdie on No. 17 for a 70 in the Second Round.
As a team, the Cougars posted a sub-par total for the second straight day with a 1-under 283 and moved into fifth with a 36-hole total of 558.
No. 12 LSU held the Second Round lead at 543 with No. 15 California in second at 546.
