DALLAS â€" University of Houston junior Leonie Harm and senior Megan Thothong each finished among the top-10 to help lead the Cougars to a second-place finish at the Trinity Forest Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.
Competing on the 6,372-yard, par-72 course at Trinity Forest Golf Club, the Cougars â€" who stand at No. 27 in the latest Golfstat national rankings â€" posted a team score of 309 Tuesday to finish with a score of 895, two strokes behind team champion Kansas State.
Four top-40 teams followed the Cougars with No. 30 Tennessee (910), No. 29 Texas Tech (911), No. 39 Texas A&M (911), No. 11 Colorado (913), SMU (913) and Missouri (913) rounding out the top-eight leaders.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell, the Cougars enjoyed their season-best team finish, topping their fifth-place showing at the Betsy Rawls Invitational on Oct. 9-10 in Austin, Texas.
Harm recorded a Final-Round 75 with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 14-15 to tie for fifth at 220. The Gerlingen, Germany, native â€" who stands at No. 27 in the latest Golfstat national rankings â€" recorded her second top-five finish this season and the fifth of her career.
Thothong equaled Harm with a 75 on Tuesday and tied for 10th at 224. The Cougars' all-time leader in rounds played and strokes enjoyed a season-best finish with the 10th top-10 showing of her career.
Four Cougars stood among the top-15 individual leaders with junior Leonie Harm and senior Courtney Tibiletti tied for eighth at 147 to pace Houston.
Senior Allie Andersen â€" who fired a career-low 67 in the First Round on Monday â€" tied for 13th at 235, while senior Courtney Tibiletti joined her among the top-25 leaders in a tie for 21st at 229. Junior Maddy Rayner tied for 63rd at 243.
Competing as an individual in her season debut, sophomore Amanda Elich tied for 56th at 239.
UP NEXT
Following the Trinity Forest Invitational, the Cougars wrap up their fall season at the Baylor Invitational, hosted at Club Campestre San Jose in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico on Nov. 3-5.
From there, the Cougars open their spring season at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship on Feb. 18-20, 2018, at English Turn Country Club in New Orleans.
