DALLAS â€" Opening with the tournament's low team round of the day with a 291 in the morning, the University of Houston Women's Golf program held a 5-stroke lead on Monday evening following the first day of the Trinity Forest Invitational at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
Four Cougars stood among the top-15 individual leaders with junior Leonie Harm and senior Courtney Tibiletti tied for eighth at 147 to pace Houston.
Following their morning round, the Cougars returned to the 6,372-yard, par-72 course to post a team score of 295 in the afternoon and finished the first 36 holes with a total of 10-over 586.
Kansas State stood in second at 591 with No. 30 Tennessee in third at 594. No. 39 Texas A&M (597) and host SMU (600) rounded out the top-five leaders.
Senior Allie Andersen posted the Cougars' low round of the day with a career-best 67 in the morning session. Despite opening the tournament with a bogey on the par-3 second hole, Andersen rebounded with four birdies during the next six holes, including three straight on Nos. 6-8.
The Woodlands, Texas, native added two birdies in a three-hole stretch on Nos. 13-15 and closed out the First Round with a birdie on the par-5 first hole. She was tied for 11th with a score of 148.
Andersen topped her previous low of 69, done three times and most recently in the First Round at the Clemson Invitational on March 31.
Tibiletti opened with a 74 in the morning and followed with a 73 to tie for eighth at 147.
Harm bettered her morning round by three strokes with an even-par 72 in the afternoon and joined Tibiletti in a tie for eighth at 147.
Senior Megan Thothong was tied for 13th at 149. Making her season debut and competing as an individual, sophomore Amanda Elich was tied for 24th at 151. Junior Maddy Rayner was tied for 61st at 160.
Kansas State's Reid Isaac held the first-day lead at 3-under 141 to finish two strokes ahead of Waverly Whiston (Tennessee), Brigitte Dunne (SMU) and Jess Yuen (Missouri).

FINAL-ROUND PAIRINGS
For Tuesday's Final Round, the Cougars will tee off with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start and compete in groups with student-athletes from Kansas State and Tennessee.
Tibiletti will be in the first group off No. 1 with Harm (second group off No. 1), Andersen (No. 2), Thothong (No. 3) and Rayner (No. 4) following. Elich begins her Final Round off No. 17.
UP NEXT
Following the Trinity Forest Invitational, the Cougars wrap up their fall season at the Baylor Invitational, hosted at Club Campestre San Jose in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico on Nov. 3-5.
From there, the Cougars open their spring season at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship on Feb. 18-20, 2018, at English Turn Country Club in New Orleans.
