WHAT IS EDUCATION DAY?
• University of Houston Athletics and Cougar Men and Women's Basketball are pleased to announce the Inaugural Cougar Education Days! Cougars Basketball Education Day was developed to reach out to the Houston Area Schools to promote and engage the area schools and share with the students the importance of getting a good education. The inaugural Education Day theme will be centered on being a good teammate, friend and classmate coupled with exciting Cougar Men and Women's Basketball!
Men's Basketball Education Day -- Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 11:00 a.m.
Women's Basketball Education Day -- Monday, Dec. 18 at 11:00 a.m.
• The Cougar Education Days are a fantastic opportunity to share with your students the college atmosphere, rewards for staying in school as well as while getting them excited about furthering their education.
• Houston Athletics is excited to offer two dates for your students to attend a Houston Basketball game inside Health & PE Arena on the campus of Texas Southern University.
Admission for all students 8th grade and younger is free of charge. Additionally, all participating students, staff, and chaperones will receive FREE admission.
The first game is set for 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 6, when the Men's Basketball team takes on Fairfield. In our second game, Houston Women's Basketball faces UIW at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 18.
EDUCATION BENEFITS
• Houston Athletics will provide workbooks prior to the event for the school students to complete. At the game, the MC of the event will go over the questions and provide answers.• Additionally, University of Houston Athletics will provide speakers prior to the event to share their educational story.
• Each time out at both men and women's basketball games will promote the following educational component featuring different school subjects including but not limited to; history, spelling, science, spelling and geography

Tickets• Admission is free for all teachers, teachers' aides, principals and students.
Arrival and Dismissal Times
• As the event approaches, your school will receive an email with information regarding the timing that your school should arrive at the TSU Arena. Please note that these times will help the flow of traffic and bottlenecking.
• When the game concludes we ask students from each school to stay in their seats until their school buses have returned to TSU's H&PE Arena. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BUILDING UNTIL YOUR SCHOOL HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED.
Remaining in your seats will prevent a bottleneck and undue stress at the arena's entrance.
Bus Stipend
• The University of Houston Athletics will have a limited amount of partial bus stipends available for these games. Click here to find out more about the bus stipends.Directions
• H&PE Arena is located at 3000 Wheeler Ave., Houston, TX 77004.• Buses will drop off students, teachers, and chaperones at the southwest corner of the arena off 18th Street. University of Houston Police Department and Parking Services will be there to direct buses to their designated parking lots.
• A designated route for buses to follow for drop off, and pick up will be distributed to schools leading up to the event.

Parking
• The University of Houston will have parking available for all buses for free. For schools driving in cars, chaperones driving separately, general fans, and season ticket holders who will be attending this game, there are two options.Fans can park at the Texas Southern University West Parking Garage for $5, or they can choose to park in Lot 12b at TDECU Stadium and ride the campus shuttle that starts 90 minutes prior to tip off from the Gate 3 area of TDECU Stadium. Seating
• Schools will receive a detailed map and assigned seats in their welcome packet.• Welcome packets will be hand delivered or mailed to schools based on their location 2 weeks prior to the game.

Lunch and Concessions
• Complimentary lunches will be provided for students when they arrive at the arena. Lunches will be available for pick up on the west and east concourses.• Concessions will be open and will have the following items available:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who should be our point of contact for our school?• We recommend this person be a full time employee. (I.E. Teacher, Counselor, Vice Principal, etc.) This contact will receive important information from UH Athletics regarding Education Day.
What if my child is homeschooled but wants to attend one or both of the games?
• All students 8th grade and younger are welcome to attend! Contact Kevin Olivett at kolivett@central.uh.edu or Sara Crutcher at scrutch@central.uh.edu with Houston Athletics Marketing the with the numbers of students and chaperones wanting to attend to receive information for parking and arena seating.
I am a teacher or principal, what if I do not know the exact number of students, teachers or administrators attending?
• We ask that you be as precise as possible when registering. We know that registering so far in advance does leave the window open for drops and add-ons. You will have time closer to the event to give UH Athletics your final head count.
What if I need to change the head count number after I have submitted information?

How will our school attendees get tickets to these games?
• Tickets will not be needed for the attendees. Each school will have a designated seating location in the arena.
What if parents want to attend the game but not as chaperones?
• Parents are more than welcome to attend the game. UH Athletics will have specific sections in the arena open for general fans and season ticket holders.
Can we/my student buy lunch at the game?
• Students are welcome to purchase concession stand items throughout the game. All students will receive a complimentary lunch upon arrival.
Do we have to pay for parking the bus?
• Bus parking will be free. More than likely it will be at the UH ERP Campus just a short distance from the TSU Arena. Information on bus parking will be forthcoming.
How much do these two basketball events cost?
• Admission is free for all school administrators, teachers, chaperones and students. We ask that schools register online in advance to guarantee their seating. The only cost schools will have to cover is buses and/or personal transportation.
