BASEBALL AMERICA PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA TEAMS
HOUSTON â€" Houston Baseball's Seth Romero was tabbed a Preseason All-American by Baseball America as the publication named the junior southpaw to the Second Team announced Monday.
This preseason nod by Baseball America is the second preseason All-America honor for the West Columbia, Texas native after being named to the second team by Collegiate Baseball.
Romero is the only American Athletic Conference player named to any of the three teams. Of any of the starting pitchers named to the three teams, the Houston ace returns for the 2017 with the lowest ERA from a year ago at 2.29.
Romero was just recently named a Baseball America Top College Prospect for the 2017 MLB First Year Player Draft, ranking No. 10 in all of college baseball.
ABOUT Seth Romero
Romero is fresh off several Preseason All-America honors and returns to the field after earning First Team All-Region honors in 2016. The 2015 American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, Romero was also tabbed a four-time Freshman All-American during his rookie season.
Romero led the Cougars a year ago with a 2.29 ERA and totaled 113 strikeouts in 94.1 innings pitched. The southpaw is 13-8 and holds a 2.13 ERA in his two-year career at Houston. He has three complete games and has fanned 205 hitters in 177.2 innings.
