Fletcher Named to Broncos Ring of Fame

HOUSTON â€" Former Houston defensive end Simon Fletcher, a three-year starter for the Cougars from 1982-84, has been named to the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame, the organization announced Tuesday.

Fletcher, the Broncos' all-time leader in sacks, started in three Super Bowls (XXI, XXII and XXIV) and spent his entire 11-season career in Denver from 1985 through 1995. He recorded 97.5 career sacks, setting an NFL record with a sack in 10 consecutive games over the 1992-93 seasons and played in a Denver-record 172 consecutive games.
His 20 multi-sack games is also a Broncos record as Fletcher led the team in sacks for seven consecutive seasons (1998-94).
The Broncos second-round draft pick in the 1985 NFL Draft, Fletcher was one of three Cougars to be selected in the 1985 NFL Draft, joining defensive back Audray McMillian (New England Patriots) and linebacker Bryant Winn (Washington Redskins). He is one of 12 Cougars to be drafted by the Broncos.
Fletcher joins the Broncos Ring of Fame with former Broncos Jason Elam and John Lynch. The three will become the 29th, 30th and 31st members of the exclusive group.
