HOUSTON â€" Houston Baseball returns to American Athletic Conference play with its final regular-season road trip set for this weekend at Cincinnati. The series will begin on Friday at 5 p.m. CT, continue Saturday at 5 p.m. CT and wrap at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Cougars will enter the weekend series with an overall record of 29-19 overall and a league record of 8-9, sitting in a tie for fourth place with UConn.
ON DECK
Following the weekend series at Cincinnati, Houston will travel to Constellation Field in Sugar Land to face Rice on Tuesday, May 17 for the final game of the Silver Glove Series and final midweek contest of the year. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
HITS ON HOUSTON
Houston will play its final three conference road games at Cincinnati this weekend are the Cougars are winners of their last four, including back-to-back wins over ranked opponents in No. 13 Rice and No. 21 Louisiana during midweek play.
Offensively, Houston is hitting .269 and slugging .370 with 64 doubles, 11 triples and 25 home runs. Leading the way at the plate is freshman Joe Davis, hitting .337 with a team-best 65 hits, 42 RBI, 15 doubles and nine home runs. His nine home runs tied the Houston freshman all-time record set back in 1986 by Mike Musolino.
Following Davis at the plate is sophomore Corey Julks with a .314 average and sophomore Connor Wong with a .304 average and team-high 40 runs scored.
On the base paths, Houston is 56-of-67, led by sophomore Zac Taylor with 19-of-21.
Houston's pitching staff continues to rank among the nation's Top 10 in several categories, posting a 2.49 ERA with 380 strikeouts to 88 walks in 420.0 innings pitched this season. Opponents are hitting .222 against the Cougars.
Freshman Mitch Ullom paces the starters in wins with a 6-2 record, and with a 2.25 ERA in 11 appearances and nine starts in his first collegiate season. He is coming off his second career complete game victory with a win over Memphis on Sunday.
Junior Andrew Lantrip follows with a 2.45 ERA and a 5-5 record in 12 starts. He has fanned 76 and walked just five to rank among the nation's leader in strikeout-to-walk ratio in a staff-leading 80.2 innings pitched.
Sophomore Seth Romero has 84 strikeouts in 70.2 innings and is 4-4 with 2.55 ERA in 11 appearances and 10 starts.
Freshman Trey Cumbie has made the last three Tuesday starts and is 3-2 with a 1.51 ERA in 12 appearances and three starts.
Out of the bullpen, Houston goes to junior Nick Hernandez, who is 2-0 with eight saves and a 1.36 ERA in a team-high 22 appearances. He has struck out 48 in 39.2 innings and is holding opponents to a .174 average.
ABOUT CINCINNATI
Cincinnati will enter the weekend series with a 22-25-1 overall record and a 10-7-1 mark in American Athletic Conference to sit in third place. The team has dropped three of its last four games, including a series at UCF this past weekend.
The Bearcats hold a .234 team batting average and are slugging .352 with 65 doubles, 16 triples and 30 home runs. Leading the way offensively is Connor McVey with a .305 average, team-best 54 hits and 33 runs scored. Ryan Noda paces the team with five home runs and 31 RBI.
As a team, Cincinnati has swiped 81-of-104 bases and are fielding .972 with 52 errors in 48 games.
The pitching staff owns a 3.81 ERA with six complete games and five shutouts. The Bearcats have fanned 267 hitters and walked 171 in 427.0 innings â€" holding opponents to a .254 average.
Andrew Zellner leads the pitchers with a 2.15 ERA and a 6-3 record in 12 starts. He has three complete games this season and opponents are being held to a .215 clip.
David Orndorff follows with a 3.24 ERA and a 3-3 record in 16 appearances and 10 starts and J.T. Perez is 5-4 with a 3.27 ERA in 12 appearances and 11 starts.
Out of the bullpen, Cincinnati relies on a handful of relievers, but Jarod Yoakam owns the team-lead with 22 appearances and is 2-1 with two save with a 5.23 ERA.
SERIES HISTORY vs. CINCINNATI
Houston and Cincinnati have met 38 previous times with the Cougars leading the all-time series, 31-7.
The series between the two programs dates back to 1958. Houston is 14-3 all-time at Cincinnati. The Cougars have won five straight against the Bearcats and seven of the last eight with the last meeting coming in an 8-4 win on May 19, 2015 at the American Athletic Conference Championship in Clearwater, Fla.

As noted in the table above, variable pricing occurs. For weekday (Tuesday/Wednesday) games, prices range from $5-$7 depending on the choice of seating.
Weekend ((Thursday) Friday-Sunday) online pricing will range from $6-$8 per game.
GROUP RATES
Group rates are also available (as noted in the table). Weekday (Tuesday/Wednesday) and Weekend ((Thursday) Friday-Sunday) pricing occurs. Groups of 10-24 are set at $4-$5 per person, while groups of 25+ are $3-$4 per person.
