Houston Softball Drop Series Finale

GREENVILLE, N.C. â€" Houston Softball fell 2-0 to East Carolina in the series finale Sunday afternoon.
The Cougars fall to 21-26 on the season, 4-8 in conference play. East Carolina improved to 22-28, 4-11.
Freshman outfielder Maya Thomas recorded the Cougars two hits on bunt singles, but Houston stranded six runners on.
Houston defense turned its 15th double play of the season to get out of the sixth inning with ECU runners in scoring position.
Freshman RHP Presley Bell (4-8) took the loss for the Cougars. She allowed two earned runs, a walk and struck out one. Freshman RHP Savannah Heebner came in relief for 2.0 innings. She has pitched 11 consecutive scoreless innings in the last three appearances.
NEXT AT BAT
Houston Softball continues American Athletic Conference play next weekend as the Cougars travel to Storrs, Conn., to face UConn. First game of the series is set for Friday at 3 p.m. (CT).
