HOUSTON â€" Houston Softball continues American Athletic Conference play this weekend as the Cougars travel to Tampa, Fla., to face South Florida in the first conference road test of the season.
The Cougars (16-16) and Bulls (29-9) will open the three-game series on Friday at 5 p.m. (CT) Game two of the series is set for 4 p.m. (CT) on Saturday while the two close out the weekend on Sunday at noon (CT).
All games will be streamed on GoUSFBulls.com.

THE MATCH UP |
• Series: Houston trails, 13-11
• Last Meeting: W, 2-1 â€" March 22, 2015 (Cougar Softball Stadium)
• Last Meeting at USF Softball Stadium: W, 4-3 â€" May 13, 2005 (Members of C-USA)
• Prior to the 2014 season when USF joined the American Athletic Conference, the two teams hadn't played each other since competing in Conference USA in 2005.
HITS ON HOUSTON |
• Houston Softball split a midweek doubleheader at Lamar Tuesday night. The Cougars defeated Lamar 8-4 before dropping in game two, 4-3.
• Freshman Savannah Heebner went 4-for-7 against the Cardinal pitching staff with her first collegiate triple.
• Freshman RF Elise LeBeouf also hit her first collegiate triple to lead the Cougars over Lamar during game one.
• Senior centerfielder Katie St. Pierre extended her reached base streak to 32 games this season and 33 straight dating back to last season.
SPEEDY ST. PIERRE |
• St. Pierre recorded two more stolen bases during game one of the doubleheader at Lamar. She now has 13 stolen bases so far this season in 17 attempts.
• With her 58 career stolen bases, St. Pierre is just three shy of tying the school record set by All-American Jessica Valis who had 61 from 2006-09.
• St. Pierre also ranks in the top five in school history for career walks (100), runs scored (150), hits (219) and hit by pitch (22).
• St. Pierre has focused on her On-Base percentage this season. She has reached base in all 32 games this season and has a .542 OB% that ranks second in conference and 31st in the nation.
TAKING ONE FOR THE TEAM... OR 20 |
• After 32 games, a pitch has hit the Cougars 43 times this season. That is good for the fifth most in school history by a Cougar team.
• Sophomore Kaylin Crumpton leads the team with 13 followed by teammate Courtney Klingler who has been pegged nine times.
• Crumpton ranks third in school history for career hit by pitches (32) and sits 11th nationally for most HBP per game (0.41).
• Crumpton is in the top 20 nationally on the Active Career Leaders list for most hit-by-pitches.
MAYA THOMAS |
• Freshman Maya Thomas has tallied a reached base streak of 18, just behind St. Pierre.
• With her quickness down to first, Thomas has been laying down bunt singles all season. She is a on a 12-game hitting streak that have included 16 bunt singles.

• South Florida is currently on a 21-game win streak, the longest in the nation along with Florida State. The Bulls received their first ranking of the season, coming in at No. 23 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll and No. 24 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll.
