Houston Football Spring Practice #4

Under an off-and-on drizzle, the #HTownTakeover returned to the Houston Football practice facility for its fourth practice of the spring, a two-hour spirited affair in full pads for the second straight day. And for the second straight day, it meant the return of the Circle Drill.
With the defense claiming day one, defensive coordinator Todd Orlando held the championship belt throughout stretch period and brought it to the Circle Drill ring prior to a five-round showdown. After Chauntez Jackson and Steve Taylor picked up two wins for the defense, it was Steven Dunbar and Isaiah Johnson who knotted things up for the offense.
The defense would leave the ring with the bell however as Nick Thurman showed off the strength gained in an intense offseason under Director for Football Sports Performance Yancy McKnight to claim the win for the defense and the right to keep the championship belt until at least next practice.
Houston returns to practice Friday at 6 a.m. under the lights of TDECU Stadium.

Spring Practice Notes:
Houston will hold its 2016 Pro Day on Thursday beginning at 9 a.m. … nineteen former members of the Houston team are slated to work out, 16 from the 2015 team and three from the 2014 team … Houston cornerback William Jackson III, who ran a blazing 4.37 40-yard dash as part of a great workout at the NFL Combine, is expected to only workout in position drills … Houston fans can follow along live from the workout on the Houston Cougar Football Facebook page and on Twitter and Instagram at @UHCougarFB.
Houston returns to the practice field Wednesday and Friday of this week as part of 15 spring practices that conclude with the 2016 Red & White Game presented by Energy Ogre at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 16, at TDECU Stadium. Fans can purchase general admission tickets ahead of time for just $5 at UHCougars.com/spring with tickets priced at $10 the day of the event.
