Cougars Add Marnie Stokes to 2016 Roster

HOUSTON â€" The once completely international Houston Cougar Tennis team welcomes an American born player to the mix as Fort Pierce, Florida-native, Marnie Stokes joins the lineup for the 2016 season. Stokes is welcomed in to the Cougar family with three years of eligibility left in her college career.
Though Stokes may be new to Houston tennis, she managed to make an impact to the tennis community during her time in Florida. While in high school, she not only accomplished an undefeated season on Jensen Beach High School's varsity team, but also finished second at state in both singles and doubles. In 2009, Stokes earned the Florida State Champion title. Stokes was exposed to success on the court at a younger age when her Florida Junior Team advanced to the 14 and under title.
Some of Stokes' talent derived from incredible coaching throughout her childhood. Stokes credits most of her talent and knowledge of the game to her mother, and she also earned a scholarship to the Windridge Program to spend time training in Vermont.
UP NEXT FOR HOUSTON
Marnie and the Cougars travel north to Fort Worth, Texas to compete in the ITA Kick-off Weekend hosted by TCU. The Cougars meet the Horned Frogs on Friday, at 2 p.m., and will meet either Ohio State or Pepperdine on Saturday, or Sunday depending on the four teams' outcomes.
