HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Volleyball team travels to Denton, Texas, for the North Texas Invitational this weekend to close out road tournament play.
The Cougars (5-1) open the tournament on Friday with Abilene Christian at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, Houston faces Boise State at 1 p.m. and closes out the tournament with host North Texas at 7 p.m.
This weekend marks the first time since 1978 that Houston has faced Abilene Christian. In 2013, Abilene Christian became an NCAA Division I affiliate.
It has been six years since the first and only match between the Cougars and Boise State. In the teams last meeting, Houston swept the Broncos, 3-0, during the Loyola Marymount Crowne Plaza LAX Tournament in Los Angeles, Calif.

« Houston won the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic in Lafayette, La., for the second time in three seasons.
« Freshman outside hitter Brookah Palmer was named the tournament MVP as she racked up 47 kills, 29 digs and four blocks in the three matches. She recorded her third double-double of the season and was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for her second straight weekly award.
« Senior libero Olivia O'Dell was named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her outstanding performance in Lafayette, La.
« O'Dell tallied 74 digs over the three matches including two 29-dig performances for a career high.

BROOKAH PALMER
Freshman outside hitter Brookah Palmer has been a great six-rotation addition for the Cougars. In her first tournament at the collegiate level, Palmer tallied two 20+ kill matches. She posted a career best 26 kills against Texas Tech, becoming the 10th all-time for most kills in a four-set match.
Palmer was named the first Offensive Player of the Week for the 2015 season following her outstanding weekend.
Last weekend, Palmer led the Cougars to another Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic tournament title for the second time in three years. She was named to the conference Honor Roll for her 47 kills (.296 hitting average) in three matches over the weekend.
OLIVIA O'DELL
Senior Olivia O'Dell has earned starts as the Cougars libero this season and has already made a name for herself in the records book.
O'Dell tallied career high digs once again with a 29-dig performance, tied for the eighth in school history for digs in a four-set match.
