Houston Volleyball Defeats Nicholls in Five

LAFAYETTE, La. -- The University of Houston Volleyball team rallied to defeat Nicholls State in a five set match (22-25, 25-19, 25-18, 19-25, 15-13) to open the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Cougars move to 3-1 on the season while the Colonels drop to 2-2.
In all three wins, Houston has hit .200 or better. The Cougars also posted a season high 9.0 team blocks.
Sophomore setter Keandra McCardell posted her second double-double of the season as she tallied 34 assists and 16 digs.
Freshman Brookah Palmer also tallied her third double-double of the season as she led the Cougars with 22 kills and 12 digs, hitting .260. This match marked her third consecutive 20+ kills match of the season.
Sophomore hitter Sarah Afflerbaugh posted a season high of 15 kills while hitting .227. Redshirt freshman middle Chenelle Walker was almost unstoppable down the middle as she knocked eight kills and a .600 hitting percentage.
Senior libero Olivia O'Dell broke her career high once again with 29 digs, marking her second consecutive 20+ dig match of the season.

Houston Volleyball returns to Earl K. Long Gym tomorrow for two matches to close out the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic. The Cougars are set to face Jackson State at 10 a.m. and host Louisiana-Lafayette at 4 p.m.
