Cougars Continue American Play Against Cincinnati

HOUSTON â€" The Houston Cougar women's soccer team wraps up a five-game home stand as they continue American Athletic Conference play hosting Cincinnati on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m., at Carl Lewis Field.
The Cougars dropped a 2-0 decision to East Carolina in their American Conference opening game on Thursday, Sept. 24, which snapped Houston's three-game winning streak. Senior goalkeeper Jordan Brown stopped three shots in the loss to the Pirates, while sophomore forward Vanessa Almaguer led the team with four shots.
Cincinnati comes to town with a 5-2-4 overall record and a 0-0-1 American Athletic Conference record after playing SMU to a 2-2 (2OT) draw on Thursday in Dallas, Texas. Senior Danielle Rotheram leads the Bearcats offensively in goals (six), assists (three) and points (15), and has three of the Bearcats' five game-winning goals.
The Bearcats have split time between two keepers in 2015 with senior Sam Pavlika logging 645 minutes and compiling a 4-0-3 overall record, while junior Natalie Smith sits at 1-2-1 in her 425 minutes of play. Pavlika has saved 25 shots on 30 chances, while the two keepers have combined for five shutouts.
UP NEXT FOR HOUSTON
Houston begins a three-game road trip following Sunday's game which sees the Cougars head to Memphis, Tenn., Tulsa, Okla., and Dallas, Texas. The Cougars square off against Memphis on Thursday, Oct. 1 beginning at 7 p.m., before heading to Tulsa on Sunday, Oct. 4 for a 1 p.m., kickoff. Houston then meets SMU on Friday, Oct. 9, before taking that Sunday off for a bye.
