HOUSTON â€" The Houston Cougar women's soccer team will wrap up the non-conference portion of its 2015 schedule with a match against the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m., at Carl Lewis Field.
Houston will have a bye Friday night, and will return to action Sunday on the heels of a two-match winning streak after knocking off McNeese State 3-0 on Friday, Sept. 11, before defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 4-0 on Sunday, Sept. 13. The Cougars have won three of their last four matches, outscoring opponents by a score of 11-3.
Houston holds an 8-1-1 all-time record against the Ragin' Cajuns with the lone draw coming in the two squads' last meeting in Lafayette, La., a year ago. The two squads played to a 1-1 (2OT) draw in which then-freshman Georgi Dolence scored her first career goal. Then-junior goalkeeper Jordan Brown turned away four Louisiana shots including two in the second overtime period to seal the draw for the Cougars.
September 15, 2011 marked the last time the two teams met in Houston, with the Cougars coming away with a 2-0 victory. The Cougars hold an eight-game unbeaten streak against the Ragin' Cajuns dating back to Sept. 15, 2002.
