Robledo, Hamilton Named to All-Region Team

HOUSTON - After award-winning seasons, University of Houston Men's Golfers Roman Robledo and Blair Hamilton were named to PING All-Central Region Team as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Saturday afternoon.
Robledo earned the award for the second straight season, while Hamilton collected All-Region honors for the first time in his career. Both were All-American Athletic Conference selections earlier this month.
Hamilton entered this weekend's NCAA Championships after sharing the individual title with Texas Tech's Clement Sordet at the NCAA Lubbock Regional on May 14-16 at The Rawls Course at Texas Tech. He became just the third player in school history to win an NCAA Regional individual crown.
With his performance at the NCAA Lubbock Regional, Hamilton moved into the team lead with a 71.91 scoring average and ranks second among the Cougars with 17 rounds of par or better. He also became the first player in school history to shoot three straight rounds in the 60s during an NCAA Regional.
The Burlington, Ontario, Canada, native has posted three top-5 finishes this season and earned the first individual title of his career with a score of 9-under-par 207 at the Border Olympics on March 13-14.
Robledo wraps up his impressive collegiate career at the NCAA Championships this week. The Harlingen, Texas, native is a close second on the team with a 72.18 scoring average and tops the squad with 22 rounds of par or better, including eight in the 60s to tie Hamilton.
Robledo has tallied five top-10 showings this season and ranks among the Cougars' top-10 career leaders in tournaments titles (5), strokes (10,712), rounds played (148) and stroke average (72.38).
Hamilton and Robledo were two of 155 players across six Regions. They joined Pep Angles (Central Arkansas), Adria Arnaus (Texas A&M), Zach Cabra (Sam Houston State), Kolton Crawford (Arkansas), Bryson Dechambeau (SMU), Scott Fernandez (Iowa State), Michael Gellerman (Oklahoma), Doug Ghim (Texas), Andreas Gjesteby (Baylor), Gavin Hall (Texas), Kramer Hickok (Texas), Grant Hirschman (Oklahoma), Beau Hossler (Texas), Kyle Jones (Baylor), Victor Lange (Louisiana Tech), Max McGreevy (Oklahoma), Taylor Moore (Arkansas), Jordan Niebrugge (Oklahoma State), Guillermo Pereira (Texas Tech), Scottie Scheffler (Texas), Austin Smotherman (SMU), Clement Sordet (Texas Tech) and Kristoffer Ventura (Oklahoma State).

Both players are competing in the NCAA Championships this weekend at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. The Cougars teed off in the Second Round on Saturday afternoon with the Third Round slated to begin Sunday morning.
All 30 teams will complete 54 holes of stroke play, ending Sunday afternoon, on the 7,483-yard, par-72 course.
Following 54 holes, the top 15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team will compete in one additional round of stroke play Monday to determine the top eight teams for match-play competition and the NCAA individual national champion.
The top eight teams after 72 holes will be placed into a match-play bracket with the winner emerging as the NCAA team national champion. Match-play teams will square off Tuesday morning with the winners advancing to the national semifinals later that afternoon.
