HOUSTON - After a full week off conference play, Houston Softball welcomes East Carolina for a three-game series this Friday and Saturday.
The series doubleheader opener on Friday is set to begin at 2 p.m. with a 20-30 minute break between games. Friday's doubleheader is tabbed as this year's Athletics' Staff Appreciation Day. Fans can stick around after the games to see which Athletics Staff member can get a hit off Head Coach Kyla Holas.
Saturday's game is the annual Bark in the Park slated for a noon first pitch at Cougar Softball Stadium. Fans may bring their four-legged friends to the park for no additional charge.
ALL DOGS MUST:
• be on a leash
• be up-to-date on all vaccinations
• old enough to be around other dogs and humans; not overly aggressive or excessively fearful
Also, a release must be filled out before entering the stadium and turned in to a Houston Athletics' staff member.

HITS ON HOUSTON |
• Houston enters the weekend off a heartbreaking loss to No. 25 Texas on Wednesday, 13-12.
• Houston Softball hosted the 9th Annual Striking Out Breast Cancer game presented by Wells Fargo. More than 1,500 fans came out to Cougar Softball Stadium, the largest crowd this season and the fourth largest crowd in school history.
• Senior Selena Hernandez went 3-for-3 against the Longhorns pitching staff with two jacks, four runs scored and three RBIs.
• Junior Julana Shrum went 3-for-4 with two HRs as well including a grand slam, bringing in six runs. The two HRs are Shrum's 13th and 14th HRs of the season.

Following the three-game series this weekend, Houston Softball is back on the road for a midweek game at Sam Houston State. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. Next weekend, the Cougars continue conference play as they travel to Orlando, Fla., for a three-game series against conference leader UCF.
DOUBLE THE TROUBLE |
In the 35 games played so far this season, Houston has already turned 24 double plays - just four shy of the school record. Led by SS Selena Hernandez, the Cougar infield turned a double play to close out the top of the third. Prior to this week, the Cougars turned two double plays in the doubleheader against No. 13 Baylor (March 17), and one in each of the games vs. USF (March 22).
During the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic (Feb. 20-22), the Cougars turned three double plays against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, tied for the most double plays turned in a game.
Last season, the Cougars broke the single season record for most double plays turned (28).

To purchase tickets in person, fans can visit the Athletics Ticket Office located on the northeast corner of TDECU Stadium, just outside of Gate 1 off Cullen Boulevard. Parking is available in the TDECU Stadium parking garage with the first 30 minutes free of charge. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
All UH main campus students are admitted FREE to regular-season softball home games with a valid student ID.

Fans can purchase general admission single-game tickets beginning as low as $5 for youth and $8 for adults through UHCougars.com or by contacting the Houston Athletics Ticket Office at 713-GO-COOGS (462-6647).
While single-game tickets are available, fans are encouraged to save and purchase 2015 season tickets. General admission season tickets are just $75 for 28 home games ($2.68 per ticket).
