Track And Field Heads West to California

HOUSTON - The Houston Cougar men's and women's track and field teams will head to the west coast to compete in a pair of weekend meets from April 16-18 at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., and the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State in Norwalk, Calif.
Distance action kicks off day one of the Mt. SAC Relays and will include six sections of the men's and women's 3000m steeplechase followed by four collegiate sections of the men's and women's 10000m run.
The Beach Track & Field Invitational hosted by Long Beach State will kick off Friday, April 17 with the women's hammer throw at 10 and 12 a.m. and the men's and women's javelin at 2:30 p.m. The men's and women's 10K will be the only running event held on day one.
An entire day of action will be jammed into the Friday version of the Mt. SAC Relays. The men's 110m Hurdles, men's hammer throw, women's javelin and women's pole vault will all begin at 10 a.m. The meet continues throughout the day culminating with the men's and women's 5000m runs at approximately 9:35 p.m.
The second and final day of the Long Beach Invitational kicks off with the men's and women's 3000m run on Saturday, April 18 at 8:15 a.m. Field events are scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m., and feature the men's and women's pole vault. The meet will conclude with the men's and women's 5000m run at 6:55 p.m.
Houston is coming off a week of not competing after its trip to Austin for the Texas Invitational was washed out due to inclement weather last week.
