Houston Softball Shutout by UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. - Houston Softball dropped two games to American Athletic Conference leader UCF Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars falls to 19-22 on the year, 4-3 in conference play while No. 17 UCF improved to 39-6, 10-1 in the conference.
Houston Softball went head-to-head with the Knights in game one but fell short, 2-0. In game two, UCF put together nine hits in the bottom of the third inning to take a 13-0 win in five innings over the Cougars to seal the series win. Game two marked the first run-rule loss of the season for Houston Softball.
UCF 2, HOUSTON 0 - BOX SCORE
UCF took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning off a walk, a passed ball and a base hit by Brittany Solis to shallow centerfield.
After three straight shutout innings, UCF added an unearned run off a single, another passed ball and a Cougar fielding error.
Seniors Kris Davila and Selena Hernandez led the Cougars with a hit each.
Sophomore RHP Shelby Miller (4-6) pitched her third straight complete game allowing only two runs off five hits, a walk and a strikeout.
UCF 13, HOUSTON 0 - BOX SCORE
After two shutout innings by both teams, UCF batted around to take a 10-0 lead in the bottom of the third off nine hits and two errors by the Cougar defense.
The Knights added to their lead with a three-run bottom of the fourth.
Senior RHP Summer Groholski (5-4) took the loss for the Cougars as she pitched 2.0 innings, allowed three earned runs, a walk and struck out one.
UCF senior RHP Mackenzie Audas (18-1) picked up another win for her career while pitching a no hitter through five innings.
This game marked the first time Houston was held to a no-hitter since Feb. 20, 2004 when the Cougars fell 2-0 to No. 12 Nebraska at Cougar Softball Stadium during the Crowne Plaza Classic.
