Houston is now the defending American Athletic Conference Champion for each of the Indoor and Outdoor seasons having won the inaugural American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships last season in Orlando, Fla.
The men took home four individual conference champions at the indoor meet including Issac Williams in the 60m hurdles (7.88), LeShon Collins in the 60m dash (6.72), Drevan Anderson-Kaapa in the 800m (1:50.70) and Cameron Cornelius in the shot put (18.11m).
Williams and sophomore teammate Cameron Burrell each earned the right to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships where Williams finished 10th in the 60m hurdles and Burrell was medically scratched from the 60m dash.
The women will build off a seventh place finish at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. Sophomore sprinter Bria Carter looks to lead the Cougars after being crowned American Athletic Conference Champion in the 60m dash (7.40) in New York.
