The Cougars enter this weekend's event on the heels of a sixth-place finish at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate on March 1-3 at Querencia Golf Club. At that tournament, senior All-American Roman Robledo tied for 14th with a score of even-par 213 to lead the Cougars and would later be recognized as the American Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week.
HOUSTON'S LINEUP
Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke and associate head coach Ryke Dismuke (no relation) recently announced that Houston's Border Olympics starting lineup would consist of Robledo, junior Blair Hamilton, freshmen Michael Perras and Alan De Bondt and senior Kyle Pilgrim. In addition, junior Vincent Martino and sophomore Matt Scobie will compete as individuals.
Robledo earned All-America honors in 2013-14 and has won five individual titles during his outstanding career. This season, he leads the Cougars with a 73.28 scoring average, eight rounds of par or better - including four in the 60s - and a pair of top-10 finishes.
Hamilton stands second on the team with a 73.53 scoring average and has finished among the top-20- leaders in four of six tournaments this season.
Perras has made an immediate impact during his first collegiate season. The Deer Park High product has competed in all six team-scoring tournaments this season and enjoyed four top-25 finishes, including a third-place showing at the Miramont Invitational in the fall.
De Bondt recently broke into the Cougars' starting lineup and has quickly enjoyed success. The Antwerp, Belgium, native has posted par or lower in four of the six rounds in which he has competed to date and tied for 16th at the Bayou City Collegiate in the first team-scoring event of his career.
Pilgrim is a three-year letterman and award-winning student-athlete for the Cougars, both on and off the course. The Colleyville, Texas, native tied for sixth at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate and used a Final-Round 66 at the 2013 Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic to win the first tournament title of his collegiate career.
Martino has competed in five tournaments this season and enjoyed a pair of top-10 finishes, including a second-place showing at the season-opening Northern Intercollegiate in September.
Scobie will compete in his third tournament of the 2014-15 season this week. A year ago, The Ajax, Ontario, Canada, native recorded four straight top-10 finishes, including fifth-place efforts at the Rice Intercollegiate and Bayou City Collegiate Championship.
The Cougars swept the team and individual titles at the Border Olympics for the third straight tournament to open the 2014 spring season. Robledo finished with a score of 7-under-par 209 to earn medalist honors, while the Cougars as a team fired a Final-Round 280 to finish at 868 and edge Oklahoma by a stroke.

UP NEXT
Following the Border Olympics, the Cougars play host to the Valspar Invitational at Floridian on March 23-24 at Floridian Golf Club in Palm City, Fla.
