GULF SHORES, Ala. - Houston Softball (3-4) closed out the inaugural Sand Dollar Classic splitting the day with a walk-off victory over Liberty and a walk-off loss to No. 23 South Alabama.

Tiffani McKnight led the Cougars to a 6-5 victory over the Lady Flames when she had a two-run double into deep right field for the walk-off win.

The Cougars led 2-0 after six innings in game two vs. South Alabama, but a four-hit rally ended in a three-run walk-off pushing the Jaguars over Houston.

HOUSTON 6, LIBERTY 5 - BOX SCORE
Senior outfielder Tiffani McKnight was Houston's saving grace as she knocked a two-run double for the walk-off victory.

Liberty jumped on the board early in the first inning scoring one run on three hits. Houston held the Flames through the next three innings until an RBI triple to right center pushed Liberty's lead to 3-0.

But Houston wouldn't let down. The Cougars put up two runs in the fifth inning as designated player Jaime Edwards singled up the middle. Another single by St. Pierre loaded the bases and third baseman Shelby Miller followed suit with an RBI single, cutting the lead to 3-2.

In the sixth inning, Houston rallied again to take a 4-3 advantage over the Lady Flames. With runners on first and second, freshman Kaylin Crumpton roped a two-run double into deep right field before being thrown out at third by Liberty's catcher. Crumpton's hit is the first double of her career.

Liberty responded with a late two-run rally in the top of the seventh inning, but Houston wouldn't give up as the Cougars rallied in the seventh inning. Sophomore Jordan Rains entered the game at second base and laid down a bunt to load the bases. McKnight knocked a two-run, walk-off double to deep right field

Shrum (1-0) takes the win for the Cougars. She came in as relief to pitch one inning, allowing only two hits. Liberty's Abby Tincher (0-1) picks up the loss for the Lady Flames. Starting pitcher Kenzie Friesen awarded the no decision, but allowed three runs on four hits, three walks and three batters hit.

NO. 23 SOUTH ALABAMA 3, HOUSTON 2 - BOX SCORE
The Cougars jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first inning. St. Pierre sparked the rally with a double down the right field line. Hernandez followed with a sacrifice bunt to move St. Pierre to third. Klingler came in the clutch with a single up the middle, scoring St. Pierre.

Both teams were scoreless through three innings until Hernandez hit her second triple of the season. A fielding error by South Alabama's second baseman scored Hernandez.

Shrum (1-1) picks up the loss for the Cougars, giving up just 4 hits before the seventh inning.
