Joey Mbu Invited to NFL Combine

HOUSTON - Houston defensive tackle Joey Mbu has been invited to the 2015 NFL Combine, the NFL announced Friday. The Richmond, Texas, native gives the Houston Football program an NFL Combine representative for a second consecutive year after punter Richie Leone earned an invite in 2014.
Mbu finished his Houston career with his 34th career start in the Cougars' thrilling come-from-behind victory in the 2015 Armed Forces Bowl on Jan. 2. Mbu, who played in 50 career games for UH, ended the year with 32 tackles including 4.5 for a loss and 2.5 sacks while breaking up four passes and intercepting another.
A Reese's Senior Bowl invitee and a member of the 2014 American Athletic Conference First Team, Mbu finished his career at Houston with 92 career tackles, including 10.5 for loss, four sacks, eight pass breakups and two interceptions.
A team captain in 2014, Mbu is one of 21 defensive tackles invited to the 2015 NFL Combine and the only one from The American.
The NFL Combine will be held from Feb. 17-23 in Indianapolis and broadcasted on NFL Network with Mbu and the defensive linemen running through workouts on Sunday, Feb. 22.
