Cougars Wrap Road Trip Against SMU

HOUSTON â€" The Houston Cougar Women's Soccer team wraps up a three-game road trip with a match against American Athletic Conference foe SMU on Friday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m., in Dallas, Texas.
Houston enters Friday's match after dropping a pair of American Conference games, losing to Memphis 2-1 on Thursday, Oct. 1 before falling to RV Tulsa 1-0 on Sunday, Oct. 4.
Sophomore Selena Peters scored her team leading fourth goal of the season in the loss to Memphis, while senior Lexa Green notched her second assist of 2015. Senior goalkeeper Jordan Brown saved 10 shots on the weekend, moving her into fifth all-time on the Houston saves list with 132 in her career.
ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
SMU brings a 4-6-3 record into Friday's contest and holds a 1-2-1 record in American Athletic Conference play. SMU dropped each of its American games to Tulsa (2-1) and Memphis (2-0) last weekend.
Redshirt freshman Vanessa Valadez leads the Mustangs in each of their major offensive categories including goals (7), assists (4), points (18), shots (29), and shots-on-goal (15). Valadez is also 3-3 on penalty kicks in 2015.
Senior goalkeeper Shannon Moroney has seen a majority of action for the Mustangs in goal in 2015. Moroney has a 3-5-3 record between the pipes this season and has stopped 43 saves on 59 chances. The keeper has compiled a 1.39 goals-against-average and has one shutout this year.

Houston returns home for its final home matches of the 2015 season, when the Cougars play host to USF on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m., before playing their senior day contest on Sunday, Oct. 18 against UCF at 1 p.m.
