SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- University of Houston senior Raegan Bremer posted an even-par 72 during Monday's Second Round at The Alamo Invitational to lead the 23rd-ranked Cougars and move into the top-25 leaders.
Bremer, who is the Cougars' lone senior in 2015-16, was the team's steadiest performer on Monday. Starting on No. 10, the Anaheim, Calif., native bogeyed her first hole of the day but quickly rallied with a birdie on the par-5 13th hole. After nine consecutive pars, Bremer endured her final bogey of the day on No. 5 but responded with another birdie on the par-5 seventh hole to return to even par.
With a two-day score of 149, Bremer moved into a tie for 25th at 149.
Sophomore Yuka Kajiki entered Monday's round in a tie for third but dropped into a tie for 15th at 147 after posting a score of 76.
Junior Emily Gilbreth was one stroke behind Bremer with a 73 in the Second Round and surged into a tie for 31st at 150. Sophomore Megan Thothong was tied for 62nd at 156, while sophomore Courtney Tibiletti was tied for 68th at 158.
As a team, the Cougars finished the second day in 12th at 602. Florida held the team lead at 579 to finish six strokes ahead of Arkansas. TCU (588), Texas Tech (591) and Wisconsin (593) rounded out the top-5 leaders.
Individually, Florida's Maria Torres and Regina Plasencia of Arkansas were tied for first at 3-under-par 141. Texas State's Lora Assad stood in third at 142 with TCU's Emmy Martin placing fourth at 144.
This marked the second time in five months that the Cougars will compete at Briggs Ranch Golf Club. A year ago, the Cougars capped their year with a berth into the NCAA San Antonio Regional in only the program's second year of existence.
