PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Houston junior Tyler Gilbert was named to the American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Monday. The Missouri City native is the third Cougar to earn a spot on the Honor Roll this season.
Gilbert led Houston with 16 points and a career-high 13 rebounds on Saturday against Tulsa. The junior was 7-for-13 from the floor and blocked a shot, which gave her a rejection in 16 of Houston's 17 games this season.
The double-double was the second of the season for Gilbert, who also achieved the feat on Dec. 3 with 17 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Rice.
For the season, Gilbert averages 8.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Those numbers are even better in American play, where the forward leads Houston with 11.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Junior Jessieka Palmer was the first Houston player to earn an Honor Roll spot in 2014-15, getting the nod on Nov. 24. Freshman Mariah Mitchell earned the honor on Dec. 22.
