GAME NOTES
• Houston defeated Grambling State 47-0 on Saturday, Sept. 6 to bring its season record to 1-1. The Cougars are 2-0 all-time vs. the Tigers.
• Houston improves to 398-346-15 all-time.
• The Cougars are now 14-18 in the second game of a season over the last 32 times it started the year 0-1.
• Grambling State won the opening coin toss in today's game and elected to defer its decision. Houston is now 0-2 on opening coin tosses this season. Houston received the opening kickoff. Demarcus Ayers returned the kick 18 yards to the 20 yard line.
• Tonight's 47-0 win marks Houston's largest margin of victory since recording a 62-13 win over Southern on Aug. 30, 2013 (49 points).
• The last time Houston started the season 1-1 was in 2008.
• Tonight's win over Grambling State is the 38th shutout in program history and the second in the last four games.
OFFENSE
• Tonight's 47 total points scored is the most points Houston has scored since Oct. 26, 2013 at Rutgers. It is also the most points scored at home since Aug. 30, 2013 against Southern.
• Greg Ward Jr.'s 12-yard touchdown rush in the first quarter kept Houston's streak of 173 straight games of scoring alive dating back to 2000. Cougars have now scored in 114 straight home contests going back to 1994.
• Ward's 12-yard touchdown with 14:22 remaining in the first quarter marked the first lead of the season for the Cougars.
• Houston scored in 38 seconds, the fastest scoring drive to start a game since Tyron Carrier returned the opening kickoff for 100 yards at the 14:45 mark in a 73-34 win against Rice at Robertson Stadium on Oct. 27, 2011. The opening drive was also the fastest score by the Cougars on a play from scrimmage since Brandon Middleton scored on a 74-yard touchdown pass from Kevin Kolb at the 14:44 mark at Robertson Stadium on Sept. 20, 2003.
• Junior Kyle Bullard's 42-yard field goal in the opening quarter was the first field goal of the season and still stands as the longest of the year for the Cougars.
• Houston has outscored its opponents in five straight quarters starting with the fourth quarter during the season opener vs. UTSA (Aug. 29, 2014).
• Sophomore John O'Korn's 67-yard pass to Deontay Greenberry is the longest reception of the season.
• Three touchdown drives tonight were three plays or less.
• The last time the Cougars had a 100-yard receiver and 100-yard rusher in the same game happened twice in the 2013 season, last coming at Temple Sept. 7, 2013 (Jackson rushed for 109 yards, Greenberry received for 165 yards).
• Tonight also marks the first time Houston had a 100-yard rusher since Sept. 7, 2013 at Temple.
• Tonight marks the first time Houston has recorded three or more rushing touchdowns in a game since Aug. 30, 2013 vs. Southern (4).
• Houston had three 50+ yard rushes tonight (Kenneth Farrow 51, 55; Javin Webb 54).
DEFENSE
• Houston has forced at least one turnover in 25 straight contests, as William Jackson intercepted a throw from Stephen Johnson with 8:29 to play in the first quarter. Jackson's interception is the first of the season for the Cougar Defense.
• Houston has forced multiple turnovers in 13 of the last 15 games going back to last season.
• This is the 11th time in the last 15 games the Cougars have recorded three turnovers or more in a game.
• Tonight's shutout against Grambling State is the first home shutout since Nov. 29, 2013 vs. SMU. Also marks largest shutout since Sept. 24, 2011 vs. Georgia State (56-0).
• Three of the six turnovers tonight by Houston were interceptions. The three interceptions marks the most in a game since Nov. 29, 2013 vs. SMU. The Cougars' six turnovers marks the most in a game since Oct. 26, 2013 at Rutgers.
• Junior Kenneth Farrow's 55-yard rush is a career long. His previous longest was 48 yards, last coming Nov. 24, 2012 vs. Tulane.
• Farrow's 2-yard touchdown with 9:51 left in the first half marked his first touchdown of the season.
• Farrow finished the game with 130 rushing yards accounting for his first career 100-yard game. Also marked a new career rushing high. The junior running back had 13 carries, also marking a new career high.
• With his 14 pass attempts tonight, sophomore quarterback John O'Korn tied David Dacus for 11th all-time on the Houston career passing attempts list. He currently has 503 and is just six away from 10th all-time.
• O'Korn's 200 passing yards tonight gives him 3,521 all-time, passing David Dacus (3,446 yards) for 11th all-time in school history.
• O'Korn's 10-yard touchdown pass to Greg Ward Jr. marks the first touchdown pass of the season.
• Junior wide receiver Deontay Greenberry led UH in receiving yards with 110 tonight. Tonight marked Greenberry's sixth 100-yard receiving game.
• Greenberry's 67-yard reception is the junior wide out's longest reception of the season.
• Greenberry moved up to 11th on the school's all-time career receiving yards list (1,977) passing Marcus Grant (1,927).
• Greenberry is now tied for 15th place on the career receptions list with his five-catch performance tonight. He's five catches shy from tying Mark Hafner (145) for 14th on the all-time list.
• Senior Efrem Oliphant tallied double-digit tackles for the 11th time in his career and led the team in tackles for the second straight game. Oliphant finished the game with 10 tackles (1 solo, 9 assist)

• Derrick Mathews came into the game as the nation's active leader in career tackles with 364. Mathews added to that total with seven tackles in the Grambling State game.
• Junior Safety Adrian McDonald's 53-yard interception is the his first interception of the season and his second turnover in two games.
• Junior Ryan Jackson's 26-yard carry in the second quarter is his longest of the season.
• Jackson's 12-yard touchdown carry was the fastest scoring drive of the season (nine seconds).
GREG WARD
• Sophomore Greg Ward's 12-yard touchdown run is his first touchdown of the season.
• Junior punter Logan Piper makes his career debut with a 30-yard punt.
• Freshman linebacker Matthew Adams recorded his first career forced fumble.
• Junior free safety Earl Foster was a part of two turnovers, a forced fumble and an interception. Both were the first of his career.
• Senior defensive end Vincent Hall recorded the first two fumble recoveries of his career, one of which went for a touchdown.
