Tony Levine Press Conference Quotes
With the 2014 Houston Football season underway, head coach Tony Levine met with the media in Tuesday's weekly press conference inside the Carl Lewis Auditorium of the Athletics/Alumni Center, while student-athletes Efrem Oliphant and Demarcus Ayers also spoke about this week's upcoming matchup vs. Grambling State.
Tony Levine PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES
Opening statement
"Football is a team sport - you win as a team, you lose as a team. We made mistakes Friday night, those mistakes ended up being the difference of the game. I told our student-athletes in our team meeting Sunday, after thinking about it for a couple days - it hadn't changed in my mind that we can be a good football team. It can be frustrating when you're in a program and you suffer a loss because you've got to wait a week to get back on the field and redeem yourself. We'd like to play the next game tonight if we could, but we know we've got to wait until Saturday evening.
"We had team meetings Sunday, practice Sunday evening, we will be back out at practice today in full pads. We are encouraged by the attitude and the leadership from everyone within our program - student-athletes, staff and coaches. We made mistakes, we began correcting them on Sunday when we met and had practice. I anticipate that we will continue that this evening as we look forward to playing Grambling Saturday night.
"Regardless of opponent, it's about us and how we play, how we perform and how we execute. We're looking forward to getting back out there and having another opportunity Saturday night.
