UCF 7, HOUSTON 1 - Box Score
UCF went ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning and held on to the lead for the remainder of the game to hand Houston its eighth-straight loss in Orlando, Fla.
The Knights outhit Houston 17-3 in the game striking for a season-high total for themselves and dealing a season-high against UH. The 17 hits allowed ranks as second-most in program history while the Houston offense was limited to its second-lowest total of the season.
The Cougars had a single hit through the first six innings before Kayla Holland and Haley Outon both reached safely in the seventh. Outon notched a double and came around to score on the Knights third error of the seventh to give Houston its only run of the game.
UCF scored in pairs with two runs coming in the second, third and sixth inning and a lone insurance run coming in the fourth.
Diedre Outon went the distance for UH taking the loss throwing five strikeouts while allowing a career high 17 hits. Shelby Turnier of UCF improved to 17-5 throwing six strikeouts in the complete game effort.
UCF 7, HOUSTON 2 - Box Score
UCF took the second game 7-2 scoring all seven runs during their final four innings.
Houston held a brief 1-0 lead coming in the third inning from Selena Hernandez infield single and the sophomore took second on an overthrow to first base. The next batter, Tiffani McKnight, reached on a single and then stole second base that resulted in the Knights third error of the inning allowing Hernandez to take home.
Both of Houston's runs came as a result of stolen bases and throwing errors by UCF as McKnight took third base on a steal in the sixth and a wayward throw down to get here went into left field allowing the junior to score.
Following Houston's scoreboard advantage in the top of the third, the Knights protected their home court scoring one, two, one and three runs in the third through sixth innings to claim the victory.
Houston's Julana Shrum took the loss (10-6) allowing seven earned runs in the six innings she pitched. UCF's Mackenzie Audas earned the win in relief taking over for Turnier in the fourth and throwing the final four innings.
