GREENSBORO, N.C. - University of Houston swimmers Ashley Grijalva and Taylor Gregory swam successful races today as the Cougars took the pool at the USA Swimming AT&T Winter National Championships. Both Cougars did Houston proud at the most prestigious meet of the winter season.
Grijalva swam in the 100-yd breaststroke and finished 67th overall, with a time of 1:04.31. She swam a time of 30.19 on the first half of her race, and 34.12 on the second half.
Gregory competed in the 100-yd backstroke and placed 118th overall. Her time of 58.35 included a first half of 27.76 and a second half of 30.59.
"Today was a great experience for our swimmers to race against the best competition in the country," said head coach Rich Murphy. "Our swimmers earned this opportunity based on their success last season, and I look forward to seeing them build on this experience, both tomorrow and when we return to this venue for the American Athletic Conference Championship in February."
