Leonie Harm Joins Women's Golf

HOUSTON - Leonie Harm became the first signee for the University of Houston Women's Golf program during the early period with her recent signing of a National Letter of Intent.
Harm, who hails from Gerlingen, Germany, will compete as a freshman for the Cougars under head coach Gerrod Chadwell in 2015-16.
"Leonie has international experience and travels the world playing at a high level. She has a drive to do great things, so we knew she would fit our culture," Chadwell said. "She hits the ball a long way and continues to develop her game inside 100 yards. "
Standing 5-foot-10, she currently ranks No. 14 in the European Golf Rankings and is the highest ranked German in that group. She also stands at No. 192 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and has competed on the Junior level for the German National Team.
She recently finished 25th at the French International Amateur Stroke Play Championship in France, thanks to a pair of 71s to open the tournament.
Harm, whose first name is pronounced LEE-o-nee, finished fourth at the German International Amateur Championship, after first 72s in the final two rounds and has posted eight top-20 individual showings in 2014.

The Cougars have concluded their fall season and return to tournament action Feb. 15-16 at the Texas State Spring Challenge on at Landa Park in New Braunfels, Texas.
