Houston Concludes Strong First Day at Texas Diving Invitational

FULL RESULTS
AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Houston diving team concluded the opening day of competition at the Texas Diving Invitational with two divers, Taylor Olanski and Danielle Shedd, finishing in the top-10 in the 3-meter dive on Thursday evening at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Both Olanski and Shedd qualified for the finals of the 3-meter competition, making Houston one of just two schools to place two divers in the eight-contestant evening field. Olanksi finished sixth overall with a score of 291.75. Her highest-scoring dive in the final round was a Back 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck that earned a score of 57.40. Shedd finished seventh, scoring 279.65 overall. She scored the highest with a Back 2 1/2 Somersault Pike that netted a score of 52.50.
Emma Ivory-Ganja of Texas won the event, with a score of 395.40.
In preliminary round, held Thursday morning, Shedd finished fifth with a score of 303.35. Her highest score came with a Reverse 2 1/2 Somersault Pike that earned a 70.50. Olanski finished seventh, scoring 290.20. Her best result came with the Reverse 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck, which earned a score of 57.40.
Redshirt freshman Micaela Bouter placed 14th in the prelims, with a score of 221.65. Her best dive came from the Back 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck, which scored a 54.60.
UP NEXT FOR THE COUGARS
The Cougars take to the boards again Friday for the 1-meter dive. The preliminary round begins at 11 am, and the finals will start at 5 pm. The top-eight make the finals, with live television coverage available on Longhorn Network.
The Cougar swimmers, meanwhile, will begin the three-day Pearland Invitational on Friday morning.
