Joey Mbu Named to Shrine Game Roster

HOUSTON - Houston senior defensive tackle Joey Mbu has been selected to play in the 90th East-West Shrine Game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., the Shriner's Hospital for Children announced Tuesday. The game kicks off at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday, Jan. 17, and will be aired on the NFL Network.
The senior defensive tackle from Richmond, Texas, has 30 career starts for the Cougars, including a current streak of 22 straight games with a start, and was selected by his teammates as captain for the 2014 season.
Mbu has 27 tackles this season, three away from a career-best 30 tackles in a season, along with 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three pass breakups and one interceptions, all career bests in a season.
This season, he has racked up a career-best eight stops vs. UCF and pulled in his second career interception at BYU. For his career, Mbu has 87 tackles including 10.5 for a loss and 4.5 sacks.
