Cougars Ready for Weekend Meets

HOUSTON - The University of Houston swimming and diving team will be in separate places this weekend for a busy slate of competition. The swim team will host the Pearland Invitational from Nov. 21-23 at the Pearland Recreation Center, while the divers will travel to the Texas Invitational hosted by No. 2 Texas from Nov. 20-22 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin.
Live television coverage of the Houston divers at the Texas Invitational will be available on the Longhorn Network. TV coverage begins at 6:30 pm on Thursday, 5 pm on Friday and 10 am on Saturday morning.
SWIMMING
The swimmers will race against Tulane, North Texas and Rice in a three-day long, 18-swim event that features 13 individual events and five relays. The meet begins each day with a preliminary session at 10:30 a.m. Following a break, the teams will head back to the pool at 5 p.m. for finals. The meet offers Houston a preview of a conference championship environment with multiple teams and scoring following a championship format.
Order of events
Friday's events include the 200-yd Freestyle Relay, 100-yd Butterfly, 500-yd Freestyle, 200-yd Individual Medley, 50-yd Freestyle and 400-yd Medley Relay.
Saturday's events include the 200-yd Medley Relay, 400-yd Individual Medley, 200-yd Freestyle, 100-yd Breaststroke, 100-yd Backstroke and 800-yd Freestyle Relay.
Sunday's events include the 1,650-yd Freestyle, 200-yd Backstroke, 100-yd Freestyle, 200-yd Breaststroke, 200-yd Butterfly and the 400-yd Freestyle Relay.
DIVING
The Cougar divers will compete against Texas, Wyoming, California, Hawaii, TCU, Arizona State, Kansas and LSU.
Houston is coming off of multiple podium finishes three weeks ago against North Texas, Texas A&M and SMU. Leading the way is redshirt freshman Micaela Bouter, who was named the American Athletic Conference Female Diver of the Week on Nov. 5. Against No. 16 SMU, Bouter won both events and the Houston divers took all three podium spots in the 1-meter dive.
Order of events
Thursday will feature the 3-meter dive with preliminaries starting at 12:45 pm and finals beginning at 6:30 pm.
On Friday, the divers will compete in the 1-meter dive. Preliminaries begin at 11 am, and the finals will start at 5 pm To conclude, Saturday will feature the platform starting at 10 am.
