Warren Named To American Conference POW Honor Roll

HOUSTON - Cortney Warren was named to The American Athletic Conference's player of the week honor roll announced by league officials Monday. She helped the University of Houston volleyball squad to a 2-1 start Aug. 30-31 during the Delta Zeta Classic hosted by Texas State.
The junior transfer recorded 35 kills during the three matches, averaging 3.89 per set. She ranks second in kills among conference members. She sits behind UCF's DeLaina Sarden, The American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, who recorded 58 kills in 14 sets (4.14 per set). During the 3-1 win over Lamar, Warren posted 20 kills (20-9-49), good for third in the conference for match highs.
Warren was named to the Delta Zeta Classic All-Tournament team after her performance during the weekend.
Houston hits the court tomorrow for a match with Texas Southern at 7 p.m. The team then travels to Lafayette, La. for the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Volleyball Classic hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette. Tournament play begins Sept. 6-7.
