HOUSTON-- The University of Houston baseball team will play host to Lamar on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Cougar Field for one of four non-conference games this upcoming week.
Houston returns to action with an 11-18-1 overall record after going 1-2-1 last week. The Cougars are coming off a 4-4 tie in 12 innings to East Carolina in conference action following a travel curfew on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars will look to improve its 6-8 home record and even its 10-11 non-conference record when they host the Cardinals for a single midweek contest.
A LOOK AT HOUSTON
Houston has nine players hitting about .250 and three above the .300 mark for a team average of .261 entering Tuesday's game. The Cougars are led offensively by senior Codey Morehouse's .349, followed by junior Jacob Lueneburg's .301 and junior Chase Jensen's .297, team-best 33 hits and 25 RBI.
The Cougars have recorded 12 games of at least 10+ hits and are coming off a 13-hit effort in the series finale at East Carolina. Houston is holding a .340 on-base percentage with 97 walks and 28 hit-by-pitches.
ON THE BUMP FOR HOUSTON
Houston will start RHP Aaron Garza on Tuesday. The freshman will make his fourth start of 2012.

A LOOK AT LAMAR
Lamar enters Tuesday's contest with a 12-18 record and are coming off a 6-4 win against Stephen F. Austin in Southland Conference play. Leading the way for the Cardinals is Seth Dornak with a .310 average. Darian Johnson follows with a team-best 34 hits, while Lamar is only hitting .247 as a team.
ON THE BUMP FOR LAMAR
Lamar will start RHP Andrew Beasley on Tuesday. Beasley will make his first start of 2012.

SERIES vs LAMAR
Houston and Lamar will meet for the 76th time in school history. The Cougars currently own the all-time series, 49-26 despite dropping both contests last season to the Cardinals. The last meeting between the two came on April 27, 2011 in a 7-4 home loss for Houston. The all-time series dates back to 1952.
UP NEXT
Houston will pack its bags once again and travel to Lubbock, Texas to take on Texas Tech in a three-game non-conference series. The series will begin on Friday at 6:30 p.m., continue on Saturday at 5 p.m. and wrap up on Sunday at 1 p.m. The two teams already met once this season at the Houston College Classic as the Cougars fell 10-4 on March 4.
